-- Reviews --

Check out THIS fabulous 'Gif Out' from Broadway Box.. it pretty much sums up our thoughts on the album as well, with handy little animated Gifs, showing their reactions to each song on the album.

Cast Album Review @ Blogspot enjoys the album as well & gave it a glowing review, with a few lovely words about Rachel being a stand out.. of course.

The iTunes reviews are so far 5 star & i'd suggest if you've already had a listen you go & add your opinion on the album too.

David Clarke of Broadway World Has a lot of praise for the cast recording & even more praise for Rachel.

Sting Joins Cast of The Last Ship

On 9th December 2014 Sting joined the cast of The Last Ship, for a strictly limited run in the show. We've found a few photos from curtain of his first night in the role of 'Jackie White' previously played by his good friend Jimmy Nail.

(Of course this image is from The Last Ship's Facebook page, on the 9th of Dec)

Video footage from the curtain call of Sting's first show of The Last Ship.

Images below are from Gettys Images check out the rest of the gallery for a few more shots from Sting's debut.

Massive Congratulations to Sting for his debut.

While we're talking about Sting, we'd like to congratulate him on his Kennedy Center Honors medal. What an achievement. We hear the cast of The Last Ship made a crazy trip after their show, to be there to congratulate & perform for him..

According to Wikipedia "The Kennedy Center Honors is an annual honor given to those in the performing arts for their lifetime of contributions toAmerican culture. The Honors have been presented annually since 1978 in Washington, D.C., during gala weekend-long events that culminate in a performance honoring the Honorees at the Kennedy Center Opera House."

Below is a video of President Obama's speech at the Kennedy Center Honors, talking about this years honorees.

Apparently the show will be aired on 30th December in the US, so we'll keep you posted when video appears. Not sure yet if Rachel joined the cast in Washington, but we'll let you know.

Radio Interview with Sting... featuring Rachel

So it seems we missed this last week, but thanks to a fan on twitter, we've finally seen it. It was posted on WNYC.org on the 25th of Nov 2014..

An audio interview from The Leonard Lopate show, with Sting, joined by Fred Applegate & Rachel Tucker. The interview starts with a lovely clip from the show sung by Rachel before delving into some interesting questions to Sting, Fred & Rachel. Give it a listen below guys.
"16 Grammy winner Sting tells us about his debut as a Broadway composer in "The Last Ship" a new musical inspired by his own childhood. In a close-knit English seafaring town, life revolves around the local shipyard. But Gideon Fletcher dreams of a different future, and sets out to travel the world. He returns home years later, only to find the shipyard's future in grave danger.Fred Applegate and Rachel Tucker, who star in the show, join us in the studio. The Last Ship is playing at the Neil Simon Theater."                                                                                                                  WNYC.org

Now then we couldn't very well do an update with out a picture of Rachel now could we? How's about we share THAT picture which had us all very jealous of Rachel, you know the one we're talking about.. you know from that time when she met Meryl Streep... *jaw on floor*

(This last one's a little grainy, but click here for bigger but watermarked image..)
"Ahoy, Meryl! Three-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep boarded The Last Ship at the Neil Simon Theatre with Sting and his crew on November 25, 2014."                                                                                                           Photographer: Bruce Glikas ©  Broadway.com
We are ever so curious to know how Rachel reacted & frankly we want to know what Meryl thought of the show?

Also just in case you've missed it in the news lately.... STING is officially joining the cast of The Last Ship for a strictly limited run from Dec 9th - January 10th 2015,
Thought we'd share this video from CNN reporting on the news, as it feature's lots of the great clips from The Last Ship, with Rachel.. I mean Rachel on CNN.. we kinda feel like that's a big deal..

Also check out the teaser trailer  for Stings appearance in the show, below.. doesn't feature Rachel, but the fact of the matter is, Rachel is now going to be properly sharing the stage with STING... we assume she's just as excited about that as we are.

Rachel on The Today Show!

Below is a link to the Today show video which Rachel and the cast of The Last Ship feature. Follow this link if you have trouble viewing this video.

Sting commented on the show that the show is a three-way love story and here we get an insight into the story - brilliant for those of us who are still saving our pennies to get to NYC!

In the Recording Studio with the cast of 'The Last Ship' - Original Broadway Album

So we've all been saying we want one & apparently the powers that be behind Broadway's 'The Last Ship' have heard our cry because yesterday the cast were all in the studio recording the cast album for 'The Last Ship.'

I think you can imagine how excited we are about this, so now let's try to imagine how excited Rachel must be. What actress doesn't want to be on an original broadway cast album? It's like a dream come true & we couldn't be prouder of Rachel & the whole cast of 'The Last Ship' for how well it's all going. I think this picture shows just how excited she is.

And of course Walter McBride from GettysImages was there to snap some fabulous pictures too.

As soon as we hear more about when we can expect the album, we'll let you know.

While we're updating with pictures, here's a fabulous shot of Rachel with the one & only, Bond, James Bond himself, Pierce Brosnan, who stopped by to watch the show the other night.

We're not jealous at all, no not at all. Leave a comment with your bets for which celebrity Rachel might met next.

New Rachel Interviews

Wow! What a busy week the blog is having ...

Below is the interview released this week on Broadway.com. In it Rachel talks about her 'Honary Dad' Sting, Belfast Pubs and (my personal favourite) Wicked Wishes.

Click here to read the whole interview.

“Sting is a father figure to us all. He is so genuinely caring—about Rachel first, and then about how the show is doing. It’s been the most profound experience to have him tweak his music and lyrics around me and my voice. He’s a genius, and I don’t use that word as a joke.”

“It’s lovely to use real emotions in creating a character. Meg is fiery and tender, she’s got a massive heart, and she loves her family. I think we’re very similar. I have a son and a family I adore. I have not been in [a love triangle]. That’s one thing I don’t mirror.”

Finally, here is a snippet from the article published in the Vancouver Sun.  Read the full two-page article here.

Tucker, a native of the shipbuilding Northern Ireland city of Belfast who plays the object of a love triangle in the show, downloaded Sting's CD before going on holiday and was transported home.

"Every song I listened to I was like, 'That is a story in itself.' It got me. It brought me home to Belfast," says the singer, who starred as Elphaba in "Wicked" in the West End and is making her Broadway debut. "It took me home."

Working with the 16-time Grammy winner who led the seminal band The Police has turned Tucker into a "giddy 2-year-old." To get into character, she visited Newcastle, went to the shipyard at Wallsend and even picked up a rivet from the ground as a keepsake.

"It's a complete dream come true," she says.
