Album Launch - Rachel at St. James' Theatre!

Hello all, this is Rachel here, NOT Tucker... I shouldn't have to mention my own name much after this post so that might save the obvious confusion. Now that I've disappointed you all by being the non-Tucker Rachel, it's me, Andy's allocated new author! (Thanks again Andy). To those of you who attended the show on Sunday night, I hope you all had a great time and have stored in mind your favourite moments. For those of you who didn't quite make it, I have to say that the show was absolutely brilliant.

Rachel kicked off with a bang, performing songs such as 'Friends' by Bette Midler, done comically because she appeared to be stranded backstage at the beginning, this got the crowd going instantly. She went on to perform songs from her new album 'The Reason' which were nothing less than perfect as expected. My personal favourite had to be 'Gone Too Soon', a song that she rightfully dedicated to her Mum. It was a touching performance and I won't pretend that I didn't weep a little...

Rachel of course didn't simply stick to her album, she had some wonderful surprises up her sleeve... She did a beautiful Judy Garland medley, performing the beginning of 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' (I'm sure most of us remember her first audition tape on I'd Do Anything) and she also did a great rendition of  'Moon River' and 'Smile' (which again made me weep).

Later on, Rachel performed a Tina Turner medley quite hilariously, mirroring the classic facial expressions and dance moves of the woman herself and sung 'River Deep Mountain High' and 'Proud Mary', both of which were fantastic.

Rachel went on to do a performance with her Dad, Tommy 'Tucker' Kelly, who features on the album. This was more than enjoyable, he sung and danced like he was a young pro and the chemistry between the pair of them couldn't have been better, they even had a dance routine to go with it all which the crowd absolutely loved.

Towards the end of the show the energy managed to heighten, topping off all the excitement with a surprise appearance from Louise Dearman! It was great to see the pair back together and they did a great collection of Chicago tunes to get the crowd singing. They also put together a masterpiece of hilarity with their dance routine. The pair completely bounced off one another and the audience were loving every second. Thanks for the entertainment Louise! The photo below (despite the quality) is the twosome in action...

To clarify, Rachel did of course sing her heart out to Defying Gravity, which was spectacular as always. Queen's 'No One But You' from when she played Meat in WWRY and even the great 'Cabaret' which she famously performed on her last week of IDA (...I'm going like Rachel). For me, the show couldn't have been better and I hope you all enjoyed it as much as me. I'm sure that you did. Below is a photo from after the show of myself, the lovely Rachel and Andy (who I'm sure you all know)...

If any of you have any photos or reviews of the show that you'd like to share, don't hesitate to send them to the email address and we will get them on to the blog ASAP! I will be back on the blog soon and promise not to make it as long next time... X
