Have You Bought Your Tickets Yet?

It's hard to believe that this is our 100th post in barely six weeks!

There is just so much to write about Rachel -- past, present and particularly future that we may yet reach 1000!

It will come as a shock to no-one that Andy and I have secured tickets for Rachel's opening night, and we know that many of you have too. If you've bought tickets for the big night, or any subsequent performance, do let us know by leaving a comment.

If you haven't taken the plunge yet, here is some more information on the show itself:

'We Will Rock You' opened on 14th May 2002 and is booking until October 2009.

It is the longest running show at the Dominion and has received a standing ovation at every single one of it's 2300 performances to date.

In the UK alone, almost 4 million tickets have been sold, an average of 620 000 per year.

'We Will Rock You' has also opened in 21 other world cities, including Tokyo, Moscow, Madrid, Las Vegas and Melbourne. It is scheduled to open in Bangkok this month.

As an indication of the wide audience the show attracts, the purchaser of the 1 millionth ticket in London on October 2006 was a 61-year old grandmother who was buying a ticket to treat her 4 year old great grandson to see the show.

“This show is all about legend,” says co-creator Ben Elton. “We take the legend of Queen and create our own fantastical story of young kids battling the mighty corporations who want to suppress their individuality and their love of music. They need a hero who can help them in their struggle, and we have two – the dreamer Galileo and his sassy sidekick Scaramouche. Guess who ends up winning?”

“The weird thing,” says Brian May, “ is that somehow Ben has created a show that although we’re not in it, people come out of the theatre thinking they’ve somehow seen Queen.”

“QUEEN’S MUSICAL IS KIND OF MAGIC... SPECTACULAR... WHAT AN EVENING...MAGNIFICO”
The Sun

“THERE’S NO ESCAPING THE IRRESISTIBLE PULL OF THESE SONGS, OR THE VISUAL AND AURAL ASSAULT ON THE SENSES THAT THE SHOW ACCOMPANIES THEM WITH”
Sunday Express

“EXHILARATING AND GREAT FUN”
Time Magazine

“THIS SHOW SHOULD RUN FOREVER. SENSATIONAL”
Daily Mirror

“A NEW BREED OF MUSICAL. IT’S BRILLIANT”
BBC Newsnight.

DAVID SAYS:

I recently dug out my Queen Greatest Hits 1 and 2 CDs and gave them a whirl. I have to say that the songs featured in the show have stood the test of time incredibly well and I'm very excited about seeing WWRY even before adding the awesome Rachel factor.

Five weeks may seem a short time to rehearse and perfect such a major role, but our girl is a consummate professional and Rachel's 'Cabaret' performance alone illustrates just how much this lady can deliver.

We know Rachel will be absolutely awesome as Meat and if for some unthinkable reason you can't manage the opening night, make sure you reserve your seat as soon afterwards as possible.

Don't wait for our opening night review -- you already know what we're going to say!

Tickets £27.50 - £55 from Dominion box office or by telephone on: 0870 169 0116 (Booking Fee).

Think Rachel has come out the winner!!! WWRY is such an amazing show that playing Meat will surely be far more exciting than playing Nancy. Good for her - I bet she will have a fab time.

Yippeeeeeeee!!! Managed to secure our tickets for Rachel's opening night in the role of Meat in WWRY! 20 of Rachel's biggest fans will be travelling from Coventry to see her 1st performance in the West End - and to be there to share in her dream come true will be awesome! Hope it's a big Stage Door! We'll all be there - programmes in hand - waiting our turn for Rachel to sign - maybe even lucky enough for a photograph or two! x Chris

September the 22nd cannot come quick enough!
Unbelievably exciting to be there on the opening night, but don't worry jo, she'll be fantastic in every single performance from her first to her last and each will be equally as special!!
Besides, my seats for opening night aren't that great at all, think they may have been the last pair sold.. and you're right in the front row! You'll have a fantastic night in september =)

Hi Holz

If you mean how long the actual show is -- curtain up at 7.30 and show finishes at approx 10.20.

If you mean how long Rachel's run in the show is -- probably 12 months, but don't quote us on that.

David.
