What do WWRY fans think of Rachel?

'We Will Rock You' has of course been running for over six years and although the critics have been sniffy (and been proved completely wrong), the show continues to be a runaway success. From what I could see, Scaramouche night on 15th November was completely sold out.

Hardly surprisingly, WWRY has built up a large fan base and even has it's own official message board. I checked it out the other day, and I hope the members won't mind me including some choice quotes regarding Rachel.

It's fair to say that Rachel is a big hit with the people who really matter -- the WWRY regulars. I've copied these comments exactly as they were posted, so excuse the odd spelling mistake etc.

First of all a review from opening night:

''We thought Rachel was one of the better contestants in I'd Do Anything so we were pleased to see her offered the part of Meat and she certainly didn't disappoint. Her Belfast accent works well, think she might turn out to be a very popular Meat with other regulars. Jodie and Ashley were there to meet her after the show and offer their support (which was nice).''

A few regarding Rachel as Meat:

''I love the partnership of Ian and Rachel as Brit & Meat it is working really well and Rachel looks like she's been playing the part for ages rather than 3 months. They both really belt out IWIA and i love Rachels NOBY.''

''Straight down to the new leads starting with Rachel as Meat,i have to admit it sounds strange hearing an Irish accent coming from under the trap door, having said that Rachel is going to be a huge success in the role. There is a real energy between her and Ian and she has a superb voice.I love the change she has made to the end of NOBY.''

''From the moment Brit and Meat powered onto the stage for IWIA I knew they were ready for us! Both were full of energy and the chemistry between them was palpable!
There voices work really well together and Rachel as Meat is full of passion- she really suits the role. At first her Irish accent was a bit much for me- but after a while I got used to it. Only the good die Young- was the best I've heard that song sang I think. Never heard Kerry sing it live (only on the recording). She has a very powerful yet controlled voice and the acting is gorgeous.''

And a couple of Scaramouche reviews:

''Rachel, LOVED her Scaramouche, I'd love to see her again in the nearby future. For only doing a few shows yet she was absolutely brilliant and I'm sure she'll grow into the part even more. It was a pain that the audience was rather dead, there were just a few laughs, she deserves a lot more!''

''Rachel : Boy, a month and a half in and she's already been given the chance to play Scara for a week. She was telling me that she was totally bricking it on Monday but is now loving playing Scara and is having fun with the role. I just couldn't believe I was seeing someone whose only playe that role after just a few times before last night. She was awesome, and has totally made the role her own. Her accent she uses for the role works really well with some of the lines. Normally the comic timing is the last thing to click for the understudies that havent had a chance to develop the role every night, but she was bang on. Her vocals were also very very good and she gave a very strong SBTL that nearly blew the roof off the Dom at the end.''

I really don't want to gloat (well go on then just a little), but it was obvious from Oz and of course IDA that Rachel is a phenomenal talent. Here's the proof ladies and gentlemen and we should all be VERY proud to be her supporters.

I WENT TO SEE WWRY LAST NIGHT IN LONDON FOR THE FIRST TIME, IT WAS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN.
RACHEL WAS STARRING AS SCARAMOOSH, SHE WAS EXCELLENT, SHE SHOULD BE SO PROUD OF HERSELF.
I SUPPORTED HER THROUGH THE NANCY AUDITIONS, IF I WAS HER I WOULD BE MORE HAPPY WITH THE ROLE IN WWRY AS IT IS SO ENERGETIC AND UPBEAT AND SHE FITS THE ROLE SO WELL.
I DEFINATELY WILL BE GOING TO SEE IT AGAIN
