Opening Night Confirmed

We've just had an important email confirming that September 22nd is indeed scheduled to be Rachel's opening night!

Given this information, plus the fact that a third theatre site is weighing in with this date (see below), we're going to run with the story.

Obviously nothing can ever be certain, particularly in theatre-land, but as fans, this is as close as we're likely to get to a definite confirmation.

We've said it before and we'll say it again -- see you there!

TV's I'll Do Anything's Rachel Tucker joins cast of Queen musical, We Will Rock You , as 'Meat' at the Dominion Theatre from 22 Sep 2008.

Rachel Tucker, who came 4th on the reality tv show said: “It is a dream part. We Will Rock You is one of my favourite shows. I first saw it when I was a student at the Royal Academy and loved it. I am beside myself with excitement. I just can’t believe it.” Rachel has appeared in UK tours of The Full Monty, Tommy and Tonight’s The Night.

Other cast changes includes Ian Carlyle as 'Britney', and Garry Lake as 'Pop'. Show leads Ricardo Afonso, playing Galileo, and Sabrina Aloueche as Scaramouche continue to lead the company.

The show opened at the Dominion theatre 14 May 2002, following previews from 26 April 2002, and is currently taking bookings to 3 Oct 2009! By September 2008 , the show will have been seen by 4 million people in London.

It has songs by Queen and book by Ben Elton. It is directed by Christopher Renshaw, choreographed by Arlene Phillips, with designs by Mark Fisher and Willie Williams.

We Will Rock You does not chronicle the story of the band, Queen, rather it incorporates the songs of the rock group. The time is the future. Globalisation is complete. Everywhere, the kids watch the same movies wear the same fashions and think the same thoughts. It's a safe happy, Ga Gaworld. Unless your a rebel. Unless you want rock. On Planet Mall all musical instruments are banned. The company computers generate the tunes and everyone downloads them. But resistance is growing. Legend persists that somewhere on Planet Mall instruments still exist......
