Apollo Victoria Gala Night

As mentioned by Victoria in the comments section of my return to Oz post, the Apollo Vicoria theatre is celebrating it's 80th Birthday by hosting a special gala night.

The event takes place on Sunday 10th October and will include some sensational performances from shows that have lit up this famous stage over the past 8 decades.

Best of all our very own Rachel will be there, along with a host of other Wicked stars past and present to perform songs from the theatres current hit musical.

The show starts at 7:00pm and it's expected to run for about 2hr's 30 mins. Tickets are still available and prices range from £18.75 to £67.75

I'm still hoping I may be able to shuffle things around and go myself because I'm sure it will be an incredible evenings entertainment.

Are you allowed to record audio at this event Victoria?

What about photos and video?

I don't have a problem if you're doing it on the sly, I'm just interested to know in case I manage to make it.

PLease get audio!! LOL! For those of us stuck in the States, we don't have much of a choice. Unfortunately with college, they won't just let ya up and leave to fly to London for a show!! OH how I wish it were that easy....

This sounds amazing!! Hope you guys (Dan and Andy) both get to go!!

Ok I bought a ticket...
had SERIOUS problems with ticketmaster :(

I would recommend anyone using www.seetickets.com
they have no booking fee and they have better seats available!!!!

What seat / price did you manage to get with SeeTickets Dan?

Dan said...

got ZB seat 32.
With ticketmaster i was gonna try for one in the front section but right at the side.
cheaper with seeticket and more central.

have a look on it Andy, it tells you which seat it has allocated you before you have to pay

I probably wont know whether I'll be able to make it until nearer Weekend.

I meant to be picking my parents up from Gatwick on Saturday morning. I don't fancy driving all the way back to Bristol just to head back to London on Sunday, so I'd have to sort out some accommodation and persuade them to stay over. I might be able to tempt them with a free ticket to the show but then it begins to get rather expensive.

I need to give this some serious thought.

Dan I hope you will let us know ALL about it.

I have lived in London for two years and seen Wicked six times. This is my last two days in London as I will be leaving permanently on Thursday. I bought tickets for Wicked again, and specifically chose a night when Rachel was supposed to be performing (tonight 5 October). I have seen her once before and she was marvellous. But when I got to the theatre it said that Nikki would be playing Elphaba. Needless to say, I am horribly disappointed. Does anyone know why she wasn't performing today?? I wish I could have seen her one last time.. I'm so sad and devastated, quite speechless...

I think it will be VERY crowded at the stage door afterwards Dan. There are often about 30 or 40 waiting after a normal Wicked show but with so many stars from so many shows performing I'd expect at least twice that figure; especially with it being a Sunday.

Ashmolean - I'm sorry to hear that Rachel wasn't performing last night, as far as I know and according to the official Wicked site she didn't have a scheduled day off, so I can only assume she was feeling unwell. This has happened to me on a number of occasions and it is very frustrating.

If it was illness that meant she couldn't perform and you intend on going again tonight I'd advise you not to purchase a ticket in advance. Just turn up at the theatre at about 6:30pm and they should know by then who is on and who is off. If she is back you could then purchase a ticket at the theatre. Your choice of seats might be a bit limited at that time but at least you wont have wasted your money if she is still off.

Sorry I can't be more help and I hope you have better luck tonight. We need Rachel back for the Gala!

Sarah Earnshaw and Ashleigh Gray, I think Dan.

Thats fine regarding the recording Victoria, I thought that might be the case.

I see on the Twitter page they are saying the dress code is 'Red Carpet'. Can anyone enlighten me as to what might be appropriate?

I know Ashleigh has a lot of fans and she was great - I saw her twice - but I actually prefered Alexia. Can't put my finger on why, just my preference.

I do love Sarah though, she reminds me of Dianne and I actually prefer her Glinda to Louise's.

Thanks for the dress advice. I'm still not sure whether I'll be able to make it but I was hoping I could get away with Jeans and a shirt.

I assume you mean these girls come below Rachel right?? lol

I saw Cassidy first, loved her.
- but Rachel is the best.

Dan said...

oh and saw Alexia at West end live.
..... meh... not a fan.

ARGH i'm slightly pee'd off.
I happened to look at twitter at about 4pm.
the Apollo Victoria said this...

VIP Seats now on sale -Front Row, meet the cast after the show, 2 per person, £25 from Box Office only call 02078287074 or in person..!

Slightly annoyed because I would have LOVED these tickets...
and had already paid £26 :(

I did actually ring up as I decided I had to try, even if it would mean pay £50 in total....
but they were all sold out... which is good i guess :(

Hope you all have an incredible night...
Unfortunately i'm currently stuck in Oz (the real Oz!) so can't be there but please do reviews/photos/recordings/whatever else :) i will be very grateful! XXX

Y'all didn't miss anything much.... Rachel was ill.... so wasn't there :'(

She must be really ill as I'd bet she'd love to have done the show!
Nikki Davis-Jones sung For Good at the end of the show with Louise Dearman... and it was a special cast version with the rest of the cast doing... backing vocals? - was a bit weird if you ask me.

I'll do a review tomorrow in case people wanna know about the show :)
